Coquitlam teacher disciplined for breaching professional boundaries with students
A B.C. consent resolution found Kurtis Michael Johnston Raue committed professional misconduct after making comments about students’ romantic lives and allowing students to remain outside their assigned classes.

A consent resolution agreement recently published by the B.C. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation found that Kurtis Michael Johnston Raue committed professional misconduct while teaching in School District #43.
The agreement says Raue told Student A that they and Student B would “make a good couple,” then told Student B that Student A might like them. He also commented on hickeys on Student A’s neck and on their romantic partner’s neck. When Student A said they would never find a romantic partner, Raue said the student was pretty and had a natural look. He told another student they looked mature for their age.
The agreement also states that Raue allowed students who were supposed to be in another class to stay in his classroom without informing their teachers. The district eventually suspended him without pay for 21 days and required him to complete a course on boundaries.
Raue later admitted to professional misconduct and agreed to a two-day suspension. The agreement describes his conduct as “significant and repeated breaches of professional boundaries.” Raue also agreed not to make statements contradicting the agreement’s terms or admissions.
