Police watchdog seeks witnesses to 2025 arrest outside Surrey station
B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office is examining whether a woman’s injuries were connected to police action or inaction after her arrest outside a Whalley station.

B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office is seeking witnesses who have not yet spoken with investigators about the 2025 arrest of a woman outside a Surrey police station. The woman later sought medical treatment.
The IIO said that on Nov. 2, 2025, the woman went to the Surrey Police Service district office in Whalley to speak with police and make a report. During an interaction with officers, she was arrested outside the station near King George Boulevard and 107A Avenue.
Police released her without charges and drove her home. She later went to hospital for medical treatment, notified the IIO in December and the watchdog began an investigation. The investigation remains ongoing and is examining whether her injuries may be connected to police action or inaction.
The IIO said investigators have canvassed for witnesses, obtained medical and other records, and collected evidence including video footage. The agency investigates police-related incidents resulting in serious harm or death, whether or not wrongdoing is alleged. Anyone with information or video who has not spoken with investigators can call the IIO toll-free at 1-855-446-8477 or use the contact form at iiobc.ca.
