Corvette driver fined after travelling 100 km/h over limit on West Vancouver road
West Vancouver police say the vehicle was clocked at 160 km/h on Cypress Bowl Road at night and was impounded for seven days.

A Chevrolet Corvette has been impounded after it was clocked travelling 160 km/h on Cypress Bowl Road in West Vancouver on Thursday night, police say.
The West Vancouver Police Department said in a social media post Friday that the vehicle was travelling 100 km/h over the posted speed limit on a winding road in the dark, where wildlife had been observed. Cypress Bowl Road leads to Cypress Mountain Resort and Cypress Provincial Park and includes multiple hairpin turns as it climbs Hollyburn Mountain.
Police shared a photograph of the Corvette being towed from the scene. The driver received a $483 excessive-speed ticket and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, excessive speeding means exceeding the speed limit by at least 40 km/h. A first offence can result in a seven-day impoundment, with longer impoundments possible for drivers caught excessively speeding within the previous two years. ICBC says the offence also carries three penalty points.
The police department said driving at that speed drastically reduces a driver’s ability to react to road conditions, hazards and other road users, greatly increasing the risk of serious harm.
