Thunderstorms and possible wildfire smoke in Metro Vancouver forecast
Metro Vancouver is expected to stay warm early this week, but a weak trough may bring showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday, along with a chance of returning wildfire smoke.

Metro Vancouver is expected to remain sunny and warm early this week before a more unstable weather pattern develops, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Inland temperatures could reach 26 C Tuesday, or as high as 30 C with the humidex, with a UV index of seven or higher. Near the water, Vancouver temperatures are forecast to range from 22 C to 25 C over the next seven days.
ECCC meteorologist Morgen Shull said a weak trough moving over the region Wednesday could bring showers through Friday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday and Thursday, although the system is not expected to bring a full washout.
A shift from westerly to easterly flow could also bring wildfire smoke back into the region later in the week, potentially affecting air quality. A ridge may rebuild by the weekend, bringing warmer conditions again.
