Report says Lions owner interested in buying BC Place
B.C. Lions owner Amar Doman has reportedly submitted a letter of interest to the province about buying BC Place, as discussions continue over the stadium’s future.

B.C. Lions owner Amar Doman has expressed interest in buying BC Place from the provincial government, according to a report by TSN’s Farhan Lalji. Lalji said in a post on X that Doman recently submitted a letter of interest to the province regarding a possible sale.
Lalji said Doman has been interested in purchasing or managing the stadium for more than two years, though he had not expected the province to consider it. Doman became sole owner of the Lions in 2021 and founded the B.C.-based private-equity firm Futura Corporation.
The province has owned BC Place since it opened in June 1983. B.C. Pavilion Corporation, a provincial entity that also operates the Vancouver Convention Centre, runs the stadium.
The report said interest in the stadium’s future grew after all seven Vancouver-hosted FIFA World Cup matches sold out. Vancouver Whitecaps owners have had the club up for sale since December 2024, citing concerns involving stadium control and revenue sharing at BC Place. Lalji said a Whitecaps management agreement for the stadium has been discussed as one possible way to keep the club in B.C., but Doman’s interest predates and is unrelated to the team’s ownership situation.
