Stanley Park to host Astra Lumina light experience this fall
The travelling light show will make its Canadian debut at Vancouver’s Stanley Park Railway forest on Oct. 22.

Astra Lumina, a travelling light show, will make its Canadian debut this fall at Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The experience will transform part of the forest near the Stanley Park Railway with light installations and projections.
Visitors will follow an illuminated path through nine themed zones featuring large-scale installations, projections, 360-degree immersion, scenography and soundscapes. The visuals will also be accompanied by a soundtrack, and organizers say the self-guided experience should take up to an hour.
The show was created by Montreal company Moment Factory and has previously appeared in the United States, Australia and Turkey, but not Canada. Executive director Jonathan St-Onge said guests are being invited on an enchanted night walk to experience the park in a new way, with stars making a rare, luminous visit.
Astra Lumina is Latin for “Star Lights.” Moment Factory also created Vallea Lumina, a similar outdoor multimedia night walk in Whistler.
The Stanley Park experience opens Oct. 22 for a limited engagement. Organizers have not said how long it will run or announced ticket prices. Presales begin Tuesday, Sept. 15, followed by timed-entry ticket sales on Wednesday, Sept. 16. An onsite box office will also be available.
