Metro Vancouver activates Stage 2 water restrictions
Stage 2 continues to ban lawn watering and aesthetic water-feature top-ups, while allowing several uses including limited sprinkler watering and home vehicle washing.
Under Metro Vancouver’s Stage 2 water restrictions, lawn watering and topping up aesthetic water features remain prohibited, as they were under Stage 3. Several other water uses are now allowed.
Trees, shrubs and gardens may be watered with sprinklers from 5 to 9 a.m. on any day. Soaker hoses, hand watering, drip irrigation and spring-loaded nozzles remain permitted at any time. Pool and hot-tub top-ups, washing vehicles and boats at home, and commercial aesthetic pressure washing are also permitted.
Bylaw officers may continue issuing tickets for non-compliance. The Stage 2 fine is $250. Vegetable gardens may be watered at any time, while newly planted trees may be watered by sprinkler from 5 to 9 a.m. or by the other permitted methods at any time. Non-residential rules apply to a range of commercial activities; details are at metrovancouver.org/lawns. Reports of non-compliant watering can be made through the DeltaConnect app.
