Suhana Gill is running for Surrey city council with the Safe Surrey Coalition. Born and raised in Surrey, she earned a political science degree at 19, worked with the House of Commons and represented 22,000 university students.

Her top three priorities are extending SkyTrain down King George Boulevard to Newton, offering free swim lessons to Surrey children aged three to 16, and building a new pool and community centre in the city centre.

Gill said she grew up in Surrey and knows what it is like to spend an hour on a bus getting to class or a shift. She described young people as the largest generation the city has ever had and said City Hall has planned nothing for them. She said an extension down King George Boulevard to Newton would connect students, workers and families to the whole region. Young people deserve a council that builds it instead of studying it, she said.

Gill said public service means listening to the people a candidate represents and leaving the community better than they found it.
