Butane canisters fly during explosive Burnaby truck fire
A commercial cube van loaded with butane canisters caught fire at a Burnaby auto repair shop Wednesday evening, sending canisters flying but causing no reported injuries.

An explosive truck fire sent smoke and flames above SkyTrain tracks in Burnaby, B.C., on Wednesday evening. No injuries were reported, and Burnaby RCMP said the fire was not considered suspicious.
Crews were called at about 7:10 p.m. to an auto repair shop parking lot at Gatineau Place and North Road. A commercial cube van was fully ablaze, while a second vehicle was partially on fire.
Burnaby Fire Department deputy chief Ian Hetherington told CTV News that the van was full of butane canisters that became projectiles in all directions. Butane bottles were also scattered on North Road, which was closed to vehicles and pedestrians during the response.
The business and the truck sustained substantial damage. The road reopened at about 10 p.m.
