Langley chamber wants economy at centre of municipal election
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce has issued candidate briefings and scheduled forums for City and Township races.

The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce wants candidates for Langley Township and Langley City mayor and council to focus on building a healthy local economy.
The organization, which has more than 1,250 member businesses and community groups, released its 2026 Municipal Candidate Briefings. CEO Cory Redekop said council decisions on taxes, safety, land use and transportation affect whether businesses can start, invest, grow and create jobs and tax revenue.
The briefings call for fair, predictable and competitive business taxes; safer commercial areas through prevention, enforcement and accountability; protection and expansion of employment and industrial land; and transportation and transit investment.
The non-partisan chamber does not endorse candidates. It will hold all-candidates meetings for Township candidates on Sept. 29 and Langley City candidates on Oct. 5. The briefings reflect member concerns including rising costs, business property taxes, repeat property crime, employment land access, transportation reliability, goods movement, commercial access, and planning communities with both housing and jobs.
