Richmond RCMP video showcases vehicles and equipment for land, air and water response
A new video features Richmond RCMP’s specialized fleet, including marked vehicles, motorcycles, bike patrols, all-terrain vehicles, a marine vessel and RCMP Air Services.

Richmond’s mix of urban centres, agricultural land, parks and waterways requires officers to work in varied environments. On Oct. 6, 2026, Richmond RCMP released a video giving residents a behind-the-scenes look at equipment used to keep the community safe. Staff Sgt. Paula Maan of Richmond RCMP said the city’s geography calls for a diverse policing response. The resources help officers serve and protect the community on roads, waterways and trails, and from the air.
The video highlights marked police vehicles, motorcycles, bike patrols, all-terrain vehicles, a marine vessel and RCMP Air Services. Together, the resources help officers respond to emergencies, patrol public spaces, conduct searches, support major events and maintain a visible presence across the city. As an island municipality with extensive shoreline and critical transportation infrastructure, Richmond presents distinct policing challenges. The fleet helps equip officers to serve wherever they are needed.
In the video, an officer says the RCMP has the right vehicle to respond when people need help, whether by land, air or water. It shows a police car travelling along a city street, an RCMP helicopter hovering over a tarmac and a police boat moving along a river. It also features an RCMP-marked golf cart. An officer says it may not be suited to a high-speed pursuit, but can help officers move through large crowds and tight spaces at busy community events. Two officers travel in the cart along a boardwalk, with one driving and the other waving to people, before navigating around a barrier.
The officer says police cars and motorcycles come into play when speed is needed. Equipped with lights and sirens, they help officers respond quickly to calls for service. The video then shows a police car stopping at a dead end marked “ROAD CLOSED” as an RCMP all-terrain vehicle passes it. An officer says the ATV is designed for difficult terrain so officers can get anywhere, anytime.
