Richmond receives $29,522 for emergency operations centre upgrades
Richmond will use $29,522 in provincial preparedness funding to upgrade communications, display, printing and collaboration tools at its Emergency Operations Centre.

The City of Richmond has received $29,522 to upgrade its Emergency Operations Centre and improve information-sharing during major community festivals and emergency activations.
The project includes updated communications and information technology, portable display equipment, large-format printing capability and collaboration tools. The city says the equipment will support emergency responses, training exercises and planned events by helping personnel share information with the public and partner agencies.
Mayor Malcolm Brodie said the investment strengthens the city’s emergency-management capacity and supports residents, businesses and visitors during challenging situations.
The funding comes from the 2026 Emergency Operations Centres Equipment and Training stream of the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund. The fund is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities and financed by the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
