Diesel tops $3 a litre in Surrey, more than $1 above regular gasoline
Diesel prices in Surrey have risen above $3 a litre for the first time, adding to drivers’ costs and concerns about the price of goods moved by diesel trucks.

Drivers of diesel vehicles in Surrey are facing higher costs after diesel rose above $3 a litre for the first time. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, a Shell station at Highway 10 and 152 Street listed diesel at $305.9. A driver who had just spent more than $300 filling a Ram 1500 said the increase meant more money was needed to transport goods in diesel trucks.
Diesel vehicle owners across Metro Vancouver have watched prices climb in recent weeks. In Surrey, regular gasoline was hovering around $2 a litre on Wednesday, according to Gas Buddy, while some stations sold diesel for just under $3 a litre.
The report attributes elevated diesel prices to global fuel shortages, record-low inventories and wars disrupting oil refining and shipping. The increase has prompted concerns that groceries and other goods transported by diesel truck could become more expensive.
