Fairmont Hotel Vancouver workers ratify contract with wage increases of up to 23 per cent
Unifor Local 114 says its three-year agreement for 445 housekeeping and food and beverage workers includes wage hikes of 10 to 23 per cent, more vacation days, improved working conditions and better health and vision benefits.

Members of the union representing hundreds of workers at Vancouver’s historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver have voted to ratify a new contract, Unifor Local 114 says. The three-year agreement includes wage increases of 10 to 23 per cent, more vacation days, improved working conditions, and better health and vision benefits.
The union represents 445 housekeeping and food and beverage staff at the hotel. The luxury property opened in 1939 in Vancouver’s financial district and is one of Canada’s grand railway hotels.
Earlier this year, workers at the company’s sister hotel, the Empress in Victoria, ratified a similar agreement. Unifor national president Lana Payne said hotel workers keep the city running and “deserve a fair share of what they help build.” In a news release Tuesday, Payne said: “These members stood together and won real raises, better benefits and stronger protections on the job.”
