Surrey launches Qualico Cup soccer tournament
The inaugural Qualico Cup featured 140 matches at South Surrey Athletic Park, drawing teams from across the Lower Mainland and B.C. before the September regular season.

The inaugural Qualico Cup was held Aug. 28 to 30 at South Surrey Athletic Park, where 140 soccer games were played. Founded by Qualico Communities, Surrey Football Club, the Badwal Family and the Pooni Group, the tournament brought teams from across the Lower Mainland and B.C. together ahead of the September regular season.
The tournament says it was designed to offer a first-class experience focused on player development, meaningful competition, sportsmanship and community. Girls’ and boys’ teams competed for their age-group titles, with trophies and medals presented by professional Whitecaps players.
Jeevan Badwal, Isaac Boehmer, Ralph Priso and Brian White attended on the final day, Aug. 30. Players, coaches and parents lined up for photos and autographs. Surrey Football Club congratulated the teams and thanked coaches, sponsors and fans, and said the Qualico Cup will return next year. Information on registration for the 2027 tournament will be posted at surreyfc.com/qualicocup.
