Port Moody offers mail-in and in-person voting for 2026 local election
Port Moody’s general local and school board election is set for Oct. 17, 2026. Eligible voters can vote by mail or in person, with advance voting on Oct. 7 and 10; mail ballot applications are due Oct. 9 at noon.

Port Moody’s 2026 General Local and School Board Election takes place Saturday, Oct. 17. Voters will elect one mayor and six councillors to City Council, and two school trustees to the School District 43 Board of Education. Those elected will serve four-year terms from November 2026 to October 2030. City councils and school boards make decisions affecting residents and families, including utilities, roadwork, parks and recreation, community development, and the local school district’s policies and budget. Eligibility details for residents and non-resident property electors are available at portmoody.ca/vote.
Eligible Port Moody residents and non-resident property electors may vote by mail. The process has three steps: apply for a mail ballot, complete it using the instructions provided, and return it using one of the methods listed on the City’s mail ballot webpage. Applications are due Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at 12 p.m. Completed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, to be counted.
Advance voting is available Wednesday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Wellness Room at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. The voting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On general voting day, Saturday, Oct. 17, voters may attend any of four locations from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Glenayre Community Centre, 492 Glencoe Drive; Heritage Mountain Community Centre, 200 Panorama Place; Kyle Centre, 125 Kyle Street; or the gymnasium at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. All in-person voting locations are accessible to people using mobility devices.
The City uses the provincial voters list as its register of resident electors. Anyone listed as a Port Moody voter is already registered for the local election. People who need to register when voting can consult the City’s frequently asked questions webpage for acceptable identification.
The City has mailed voter information packages to Port Moody households. They include voting options, key dates, where to find election results and a list of declared candidates. Candidates could choose to include an independently produced brochure; the City says those brochures were not reviewed before distribution. More information is available at portmoody.ca/vote, including declared candidates’ profiles and nomination documents, voting locations and answers to frequently asked questions. For information not available on the City website or in official notices, contact the Election Office at elections@portmoody.ca.
General local elections are municipal elections. The 2026 B.C. provincial election is scheduled for Oct. 24; information is available at elections.bc.ca.
