Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, is general voting day for Port Moody’s General Local and School Board Election. Eligible voters who have not voted by mail or during advance voting can cast a ballot that day, which is the final opportunity to vote. Election information is at portmoody.ca/vote.

The election will choose one mayor and six councillors for City Council, along with two trustees for the School District 43 Board of Education. Voters may vote in one, two or all three races, and may select as many candidates as the maximum in each race allows, or fewer. Those elected will serve four-year terms from November 2026 to October 2030. City councils and school boards make decisions that directly affect residents and their families, including utilities, roadwork, parks and recreation, community development, and local school district policies and budgets.

On Oct. 17, voting is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any of these four locations: Glenayre Community Centre, 492 Glencoe Drive; Heritage Mountain Community Centre, 200 Panorama Place; Kyle Centre, 125 Kyle Street; and the gymnasium at Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. Anyone still in line at 8 p.m. should remain there; election officials will accommodate voters who arrived during voting hours. All in-person voting locations are accessible to people using mobility devices. Recording devices, including video and audio equipment, cameras and mobile phones, must be turned off and put away before entering a voting place. Pets are not permitted, except service animals.

To qualify as a resident elector in Port Moody, a person must be at least 18 on or before general voting day, a Canadian citizen, have lived in British Columbia for at least the six months immediately before registration, and be a Port Moody resident. The city uses the provincial voters list as its register of resident electors. Anyone on the provincial list for Port Moody is already registered for the local election. Those who need to register when voting can consult the city’s frequently asked questions page for acceptable identification.

Preliminary results will be posted at portmoody.ca/vote as they become available after 8 p.m. on Oct. 17. The Chief Election Officer must declare official results by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21; the results will also be posted online. The website has profiles and nomination documents for declared candidates, as well as answers to frequently asked questions. Questions about information not available on the website or in official city notices can be sent to the Election Office at elections@portmoody.ca.

General local elections are municipal elections. British Columbia’s 2026 provincial election is scheduled for Oct. 24; information is at elections.bc.ca.
