Surrey man charged after alleged metal-rod confrontation with Vancouver guard
A 41-year-old Surrey man is in custody after Vancouver police alleged he swung a metal rod at a security guard, damaged the guard’s vehicle and chased him on a bicycle.

A 41-year-old Surrey man has been charged after an alleged confrontation with a security guard in downtown Vancouver, police say.
Vancouver Police said a uniformed guard was patrolling a parkade near Cambie and Dunsmuir streets at about 4 a.m. on Aug. 22 when he found a man sleeping inside. When asked to leave, the suspect allegedly produced a short metal rod, swung it at the guard and damaged the guard’s vehicle before chasing the guard on a bicycle.
Police said officers arrested Clifford Carreon without incident in another underground parkade near Cambie and West Georgia streets. He is charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000 and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
