Tresor Horimbere, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder after his arrest in Langley in connection with a 2024 Winnipeg homicide, police say. He remains in custody after being returned to Manitoba on Aug. 3, 2026.

Winnipeg police were investigating the July 2024 shooting death of Mohamed Yusuf Abdullahi, an amateur soccer player, in the parking lot of a Winnipeg soccer complex. Abdullahi had attended the Canada African Cup of Nations tournament. Police described the shooting as targeted but have not released a possible motive.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.'s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team led the effort to locate Horimbere, with support from its investigative teams and the Winnipeg Police Service. The RCMP Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team assisted with what police described as a high-risk arrest.

Police had issued a BOLO alert for Horimbere and said investigators believed he may have been travelling across Canada to avoid arrest. The independent BOLO program had offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Two other men, Ibrahim Bangura and Norbert Kipala, were arrested in 2025 and remain in custody on first-degree murder charges, according to Winnipeg police.
