Thunderstorm risk returns to Vancouver as humidex reaches 34 C inland
Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts a risk of thunderstorms Tuesday evening in Vancouver, with a 30 per cent chance of showers and gusts near 50 km/h by the Strait of Georgia.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says Vancouver faces a risk of thunderstorms Tuesday evening, with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the evening and after midnight. Gusts near the Strait of Georgia could approach 50 km/h later in the evening.
The forecast calls for a high of 24 C in Vancouver and 29 C inland. Humidex values could make it feel like 29 C near the water and 34 C inland.
Conditions in Metro Vancouver were hazy Tuesday morning, with IQAir indicating poorer air quality. Its forecast suggested conditions would improve during the day before a brief deterioration around 9 p.m.
The Metro Vancouver Regional District had issued an air-quality warning for parts of the Fraser Valley, including Chilliwack and Hope. Environment and Climate Change Canada attributes the previous weekend’s widespread thunderstorms and heavy local downpours to an upper-level trough over southern B.C., and expects cooler temperatures with more precipitation later this week.
