Out and About: New Richmond gallery exhibit features emerging artist
A new exhibition at Richmond Cultural Centre Annex showcases paintings, fabric art and other work by 14-year-old artist Fiona Huang. The show, influenced in part by Jean-Michel Basquiat, runs until Jan. 4, 2027.

Richmond has a strong record of supporting a wide range of arts. An appreciative crowd attended the opening last weekend of a new multi-media exhibition by 14-year-old artist Fiona Huang at the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex. The Annex is across the square from the main Richmond Public Library at 7700 Minoru Gate.
The exhibition includes paintings, fabric art and other works, with vibrant colours, layered animate and inanimate creations, and striking juxtapositions. Huang has been influenced by the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988). She takes art classes at BC Creative Center, where her mentors are Shawn He and Wayne Ko.
The exhibit, titled “Free in the Chaos,” continues at Annex Gallery until Jan. 4, 2027. Ample free parking is available nearby. More information is available from Richmond Art Gallery: https://www.richmondartgallery.org/free-in-the-chaos
