Man charged with second-degree murder in Granville Street homicide

Vancouver police say a 35-year-old man has been arrested after Crown counsel approved a charge of second-degree murder in connection with a Granville Street homicide last year.

James Christopher Holmgren was arrested Tuesday by Vancouver Police Homicide Unit detectives and remains in custody, police said.

Police were called to Granville Street and Helmcken Street on Nov. 17, 2025, for reports of a man with a stab wound. The victim, 20-year-old Aymen Al-Hafidh, was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.
