Port Coquitlam launches first Children’s Week with free programs and family open houses, Nov. 16 to 21
Port Coquitlam’s first Children’s Week runs Nov. 16 to 21, 2026, with free programs for children and families and open houses at two recreation centres on Nov. 21. Registration opens on different dates for residents and the general public.

The City of Port Coquitlam is inviting families to its first Children’s Week, running Monday, Nov. 16, to Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026. The week includes free try-it programs for children and families, followed by open houses at two City recreation centres on the final day.
Children’s Week coincides with Universal Children’s Day on Friday, Nov. 20. Tri-Cities mayors, or their designates, will reaffirm their commitment to the Tri-Cities Children’s Charter of Rights, which affirms the region’s shared commitment to the well-being, safety and healthy development of every child in the community.
Mayor Brad West said Port Coquitlam is a great place to raise a family and that recreation programs help children stay active, build friendships and discover what they enjoy. He said Children’s Week gives families a chance to try something new at no cost, meet recreation staff and see the opportunities available for children in the city. He encouraged families to take part.
**Free programs all week**
Playmania and Playzone drop-in programs run Nov. 16 to 21 for children aged one to five. Art All Ways, a registered program for children aged six to eight, takes place Monday, Nov. 16. Multi-Sport and Nature & Games are registered programs for children aged six to 10 on Saturday, Nov. 21.
On Nov. 21, children aged five to 12 can drop in for skating at Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) from 2:30 to 4 p.m., or swimming at Hyde Creek Pool from noon to 2 p.m. No registration is required for the swim. The drop-in Art in the Gallery program at Michael Wright Art Gallery runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is open to all ages; no registration is required.
Registration is required for most programs. Registration for registered programs opens Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 8 a.m. for Port Coquitlam residents and Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 a.m. for the general public. For drop-in programs that require registration, Port Coquitlam residents can register starting two days before each program date.
