A total of 337,961 ballots were cast during the first two days of advance voting in B.C.’s snap provincial election, representing about nine per cent of eligible voters, according to Elections B.C. On Friday, 137,352 people voted at polling places across the province. Another 200,609 ballots were cast on Saturday, which was also general voting day in municipal elections.

The total is slightly higher than the 326,963 people who voted in the first two days of advance voting in the previous provincial election. However, about 130,000 fewer people were registered to vote in 2024. That year set an advance-voting record, with nearly 50 per cent of voters choosing to vote early. The highest single-day total last time was 222,993, an all-time high for the province.

One criticism of B.C. NDP Leader David Eby’s snap election call was that overlapping provincial and municipal races could lead to voter fatigue and confusion. Turnout in the 2026 municipal elections was higher than in 2022 in both of B.C.’s largest cities. In Vancouver, 43 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot, up seven percentage points. In Surrey, turnout rose from 34 to 37 per cent. Voters in both cities chose change at city hall, ousting the incumbents in the mayoral races.
