The annual White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4. Hosted by the City of White Rock and the City of Surrey, the free, self-guided event offers more than 45 activities across White Rock and South Surrey, connecting visitors with local artists, cultural organizations and creative talent. A City of White Rock release said four White Rock neighbourhoods will host community programming.

White Rock Mayor Megan Knight said the area is home to a thriving artistic community and that the city is proud to support opportunities for local talent. She said the Culture Crawl will bring neighbourhoods together and showcase creativity across the Peninsula. Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke said the event gives people a chance to discover the artists, creators and cultural organizations that contribute to a vibrant community. She said bringing people together for local art, music, theatre and heritage encourages residents and visitors to explore Surrey and White Rock, and that Surrey is pleased to partner with White Rock to support artists and celebrate the communities’ creativity and culture.

In the Kent Street neighbourhood, SOURCES presents the Mid-Autumn Festival of Cultural Connections on Oct. 3, with cultural performances, a lion dance, artwork and calligraphy. On Oct. 4, visitors can take part in hands-on workshops, including cedar weaving with Semiahmoo artist Joan Williams and a mixed-media art journalling class with artist Nicci Battilana. The Made on the Peninsula Art Market will also feature local makers and handcrafted work.

At the waterfront, the White Rock Museum & Archives will hold its Please Touch the Collections! exhibit on Oct. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can go behind the scenes, explore objects from the education collection and learn about preserving White Rock’s history. In Uptown White Rock, visitors can pre-register for a two-hour hands-on session, Papermaking with Invasive Plants, at the Uptown Gallery with artist-in-residence Joshua Ralph. The session will show how invasive plants can be turned into recyclable paper.

On Oct. 4, visitors can explore Prairies to Pacific: The Story of Métis Peoples Coming to B.C. and learn about Métis history and experiences in British Columbia. The popular White Rock Farmers Market is also on in Uptown that day. In the Centennial neighbourhood, visitors can attend an open rehearsal for the White Rock City Orchestra’s upcoming 2026 Christmas Concert and see Peninsula Productions’ presentation of Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park.

A complimentary shuttle will run throughout the weekend on two dedicated routes, connecting Culture Crawl venues in White Rock and South Surrey. Visitors can pick up a map at the White Rock Community Centre or visit whiterockcity.ca/culturecrawl for routes and the full activity schedule.
