Doug McCallum projected to reclaim Surrey mayor’s office as Brenda Locke concedes
Doug McCallum is projected to return as Surrey’s mayor after incumbent Brenda Locke conceded before polls closed. He told supporters he would address affordability, safety and infrastructure, while Locke thanked residents for their support during her four years in office.

Doug McCallum is projected to become Surrey’s mayor again. “Tonight Surrey has become a global city,” he told supporters, and said he would address affordability, safety and infrastructure. McCallum said he loves Surrey and that was why he ran. He said he wanted to work together to build a great global city where families can live, work, take part in sports and enjoy one another.
Incumbent Mayor Brenda Locke conceded in a speech before polls had closed. “The voters have truly spoken,” she said, wishing the team taking on the responsibility of leading Surrey every success. She said the city deserved everyone’s full support. Locke thanked her team and said serving as mayor had been the privilege of a lifetime after residents gave her the honour four years ago. She said Surrey had made progress on housing, infrastructure, public safety and facilities, and expressed gratitude to residents who had placed their faith in her.
McCallum led Surrey as mayor for 13 years and lost to Locke in 2022. He ran again in this election under the “Doug Gets it Done” banner. Current projections show him reclaiming the mayor’s office.
