Port Moody buys four Moody Centre properties for future park expansion
Port Moody spent $9.95 million on four St. George Street properties near Kyle Park, reserving the land for future public park space.

The City of Port Moody has bought four residential properties near Kyle Centre and Kyle Park for future public park space in Moody Centre.
The properties at 2505, 2509, 2513 and 2517 St. George St. total 32,710 square feet, or about 0.75 acres. The city paid $9.95 million using Parks Development Cost Charges, fees collected from developers for growth-related infrastructure and park improvements.
The acquisition adds to earlier city purchases at 126 Kyle St. and 2506 and 2510 St. George St. Mayor Meghan Lahti said the purchase supports the city’s Official Community Plan and Parkland Strategy, which identify Moody Centre as an area with a significant need for parkland.
The city says the former owners will retain short-term use of the properties through lease agreements, and there is no set date for converting the land from residential use to park space. Future plans will be coordinated with the proposed Kyle Centre redevelopment, which contemplates a new community centre, plaza and expanded Kyle Park.
The project remains subject to future funding. Information on the redevelopment is available at portmoody.ca/kylecentre.
