Five men face extortion, firearms and explosives charges in Langley and Surrey case
A 16-month investigation led by Langley RCMP resulted in charges against five men, with police also gathering evidence about possible extortion and violence involving other suspects in B.C. and Alberta.

Langley RCMP led a 16-month investigation called Project E_PURSUANCE after co-owners of an auto dealership reported significant extortion demands. The business was then targeted in two attacks involving arson and shootings at its Surrey and Langley locations in summer 2025. Four men were arrested in Surrey, while another was taken into custody as he got off a plane at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
On Oct. 1, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service laid multiple charges against the five men under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Langley RCMP Supt. Harm Dosange said officers seized numerous dangerous items, including firearms and drugs suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl and opium. He said police had aimed to target higher levels of the extortion operation and hold them accountable.
Sanket Singla, 23, a resident of India, arrived in Canada on Oct. 1 and was taken into custody. He faces charges of extortion; two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place; two counts of causing property damage by fire or explosion; and throwing an explosive substance with intent to destroy or damage property.
Sahil, 24, of Surrey, is charged with extortion; causing property damage by fire or explosion; unauthorized transfer of a prohibited firearm; two further counts of unauthorized transfer of a prohibited firearm; three counts of unauthorized transfer of a prohibited device, ammunition or magazine; and two counts of trafficking cocaine.
Simranjeet Singh, 24, of Surrey, faces extortion; two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place; two counts of causing property damage by fire or explosion; and throwing an explosive substance with intent to destroy or damage property. Harsh, 21, also of Surrey, is charged with extortion, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, and causing property damage by fire or explosion.
Jagdeep Singh, 24, of Ottawa, is charged with extortion, recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, and causing property damage by fire or explosion. The charges cite sections 346(1.1)(b), 244.2(3)(b), 434, 81(1)(c) and 99(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and section 5(3)(a) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as applicable to each charge.
Langley RCMP worked with law enforcement departments and partner agencies in B.C., Alberta and internationally. Investigators also obtained evidence about the possible involvement of other suspects in extortions and acts of violence in communities across B.C. and Alberta. Police said investigators continue to work with partner agencies and that charges may be pursued by the police of jurisdiction as those investigations progress.
Dosange thanked the victims for coming forward, supporting the investigation and trusting police to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring it before the courts. He said officers repeatedly heard that people who came to Canada to build a life were being victimized by people trying to take away what they had worked for. He described the response as the community taking a collective stand against that behaviour.
Langley RCMP Const. Peter Mann advised anyone who is or has been a victim of extortion to stop communicating with the perpetrators, call police and not send money. He also urged victims to provide police with their existing communications to assist the investigation. Mann said police had committed substantial resources and would continue working with provincial, federal and international agencies to locate and arrest the individuals.
