Science World soccer-ball installation remade into costly merchandise
Panels from Science World’s World Cup-era “The Beautiful Dome” are being sold as unique items, with proceeds supporting STEAM programs in British Columbia.

Panels that turned Science World into a giant soccer ball during the FIFA World Cup in Vancouver are being repurposed into merchandise for sale.
Some of the 131 panels from “The Beautiful Dome” will be given to Science World, BC Place, Canada Soccer and the province, among other organizations. The remaining panels will be made into products available through Science World’s online store.
The “Beautiful Dome 2026 Collection” includes patio umbrellas, duffle bags and shopping totes. Since each item uses a different piece of the installation, each is one of a kind. A full, unaltered panel is also available.
The prices are $777.95 for a nine-foot umbrella, $349.95 for a duffle bag, $49.95 for a tote and $999.95 for an intact panel. A news release issued Friday said proceeds will support Science World’s STEAM programs in science, technology, engineering, art, design and math, aimed at building future-ready talent and engaging young learners across British Columbia.
Brian Radburn, Science World’s interim president and CEO, said the installation changed how people viewed the landmark over the summer, presenting it as a canvas for science, sport and imagination. He said preserving some panels and turning others into useful objects would extend the project’s story.
