Langley man on long-term supervision order faces new charges
Michael Wayne Carpenter remains in custody after police allege he was involved in two incidents in Langley days apart following his release.

A man Langley RCMP describe as a high-risk sex offender is facing new charges after two reported incidents in Langley, police say.
Michael Wayne Carpenter was charged with trespassing after a resident reported seeing a stranger in their Willoughby backyard on the night of Aug. 12. Police say Carpenter was released and arrested again five days later after a report that a stranger had entered an apartment suite on 64th Avenue.
He has been charged with break and enter and obstruction of a peace officer. Carpenter remains in custody pending a bail hearing on the latest charges.
Carpenter is subject to a long-term supervision order stemming from offences including sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and uttering threats. Supt. Harm Dosange said the incidents were particularly alarming and credited officers and Integrated Police Dog Services with quickly locating a suspect.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the areas involved or has information for investigators is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
