Richmond election nomination packages now available
Candidate nomination packages are available for Richmond’s 2026 election, with nomination papers due between Sept. 1 and Sept. 11.

People considering a run in Richmond’s 2026 municipal election can now obtain nomination and candidate information packages online at richmond.ca/elections or at City Hall.
Nomination papers must be filed between 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Candidates must have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before filing, be Canadian citizens, be at least 18 on general voting day and not be disqualified by law.
Candidates may submit papers in person at City Hall by appointment, allowing staff to review the documents. Appointments are available through the Elections Office at 604-276-4100 or elections@richmond.ca. Electronic submissions may be sent to the same email address after the required solemn declaration is completed before a lawyer, notary or B.C. commissioner for taking affidavits.
On Oct. 17, Richmond voters will elect one mayor, eight councillors and seven school board trustees.
