Port Coquitlam expands voting options for the 2026 general local election
Eligible voters can cast ballots at two advance polls or apply for a mail ballot ahead of Port Coquitlam’s Oct. 17 municipal election.

Port Coquitlam voters will elect a mayor, six councillors and two school trustees to four-year terms on Oct. 17, 2026. Eligible voters can also cast ballots in advance on Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Mabbett Hall in the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, or on Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, 1379 Laurier Ave.
Mail-ballot applications are available online at portcoquitlam.ca/mailballot from Aug. 31 through Oct. 2, or in person at the Elections Office on the second floor of City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy St. After Oct. 5, approved applicants must collect their ballot packages from the Elections Office because there will not be enough time for mail delivery. Completed ballots must be received by the Port Coquitlam Election Office by 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 to be counted. The City will cover return postage for mail ballots.
Resident electors must live in Port Coquitlam, be Canadian citizens aged 18 or older on Oct. 17, 2026, have lived in B.C. for at least six months immediately before registration, and not be disqualified from voting. The City says non-resident property electors, who own property in the city while living elsewhere in B.C., must meet those requirements, have been registered owners of city real property for at least 30 days immediately before registration, register for only one parcel, and, where applicable, provide written consent from a majority of registered owners.
Voters should bring two pieces of identification to register, such as a B.C. driver licence or services card and proof of residence, including a phone bill. Port Coquitlam’s voter turnout was 18.24 per cent in 2022. Candidate information and voting locations are available at portcoquitlam.ca/elections.
