Video showcases Langley School District Foundation projects
A four-minute video features students and programs supported by the Langley School District Foundation, from summer reading and weekend food packs to counselling and post-secondary scholarships. Its executive director says the video aims to raise funds and make the community more aware of the foundation’s work.

The Langley School District Foundation has released a new video highlighting some of the major programs it funds and operates. Called “Every Student Deserves a Chance,” the video was released Wednesday, Oct. 7. It includes student interviews and features projects the foundation supports in local schools.
Those projects include the Summer Book Giveaway, which aims to give students plenty to read in July and August and help prevent a “summer slide” in reading skills. The video also shows high school students helping with the Starfish Pack programs. Children who have experienced hunger at home are sent home for weekends with backpacks of food.
Students also discuss how counselling has helped them and the foundation’s post-secondary scholarships. The video was made for fundraising events and to inform the community about the foundation’s work. Executive director Alicia Rempel said that although the organization has been around for more than 25 years, many people are unaware of it.
Rempel said it was “kind of a challenge to tell the foundation’s story in a four-minute video.” She enjoyed the footage of students at the book giveaway, calling it “one of my favourite events of the year” and noting how excited the children get about books.
