City of Surrey receives two international economic development awards

The City of Surrey has received two 2026 Excellence in Economic Development Awards from the International Economic Development Council.

Innovation Boulevard received a silver award in the Postsecondary Education Partnership category, while the Surrey Agritech Strategy 2026 received a bronze award in the Innovative Economic Development category. The city is to be recognized at the IEDC annual conference in New Orleans from Oct. 25 to 28.

Innovation Boulevard is a partnership between the city and Simon Fraser University that supports businesses adopting new technology and expanding. Since 2025, it has supported more than 250 businesses through training, industry events and projects.

The Surrey Agritech Strategy, launched this year, focuses on innovation, collaboration and technology intended to help local farmers and producers remain productive and resilient.
