Elections BC published the final list of candidates for the provincial election on Saturday night, Oct. 3. Richmond’s four ridings have 14 candidates running under five parties. Every riding has candidates from the NDP and B.C. Conservatives. Richmond-Steveston has as many as five candidates, while Richmond-Bridgeport has just two. Voters will choose a provincial government on Oct. 24, 2026.

CentreBC candidate Barry Wosk is running in Richmond-Steveston. A business owner who has lived in Richmond all his life, Wosk is married to Serena Lusk, the City of Richmond’s chief administrative officer. He faces B.C. Conservative candidate Gordon Zhang, an instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic, and NDP candidate Bruce Kong. CentreBC was established in 2025 as an offshoot of the BC United Party, whose support collapsed during the 2024 election, benefiting the B.C. Conservatives. The party is currently led by former B.C. Conservative MLA Elenore Sturko.

Two ridings have B.C. Green candidates: Luc Burns in Richmond-Queensborough and Calvin Dang in Richmond Centre. The CanWest Party has two candidates: Lawrence Chen in Richmond Centre and Keenan Yang in Steveston. The party’s website lists an address on Horseshoe Way. Chen is also running for school trustee in both Richmond and Sechelt.

Only two candidates are running in Richmond-Bridgeport: long-time MLA Teresa Wat for the B.C. Conservatives and Linda Li for the NDP. During the 2024 election, Wat was among the first MLAs to leave the B.C. Liberals and join the B.C. Conservatives under John Rustad. She left the party during the final weeks of Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s leadership. Findlay stepped aside just days before David Eby called the Oct. 24 provincial election, and Wat then rejoined the B.C. Conservatives. Li ran against Wat for the NDP in the 2024 provincial election.

The candidate list also includes Sacha Peter (B.C. Conservative) and Henry Yao (B.C. NDP) in Richmond Centre, and Dhar Grewal (B.C. NDP), Steve Kooner (B.C. Conservative) and independent candidate Robert Evans in Richmond-Queensborough.
