Charges laid in historical youth sexual exploitation investigation

Richmond RCMP have charged a 53-year-old North Vancouver man following an investigation into allegations of historical sexual exploitation involving a youth.

Police say Zahid Hassandeen Zade Nanji is charged with sexual exploitation under section 153(1) of the Criminal Code and sexual assault under section 271. The allegations concern conduct said to have occurred between 2004 and 2008, when the complainant was a youth and the accused was in a position of trust or authority.

RCMP received the report in September 2024 and conducted an investigation. A publication ban protects the complainant’s identity, and the matter is before the courts. The allegations have not been proven.

Police encourage anyone with information about the investigation, or anyone who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
