New Westminster mother sentenced to 4½ years for manslaughter
Karma Dyck has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of her 18-month-old daughter.

Karma Dyck has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of her 18-month-old daughter in New Westminster.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says police began investigating on July 21, 2021, after the child was found unresponsive and officers determined the circumstances were suspicious. Dyck was charged about a year and a half later with manslaughter, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
IHIT says infant-death investigations can be difficult because they commonly unfold in private settings with limited witness evidence. The court’s reasons for sentence were not available online.
