Five men face extortion, firearms and explosives charges in Langley–Surrey investigation
Langley RCMP say a 16-month investigation led to five arrests and multiple charges tied to extortion, shootings and arson at dealership locations in Surrey and Langley in summer 2025.

Police arrested one man as he got off a plane at Toronto Pearson International Airport and four others in Surrey as part of an ongoing effort to combat extortion in Canada. Langley RCMP led the 16-month investigation, Project E_PURSUANCE, after two co-owners of an auto dealership reported significant extortion demands. The business was then targeted in two attacks involving arson and shootings at its Surrey and Langley locations in summer 2025.
Langley RCMP Supt. Harm Dosange said the investigation also led to the seizure of numerous dangerous items, including firearms and drugs suspected to include cocaine, fentanyl and opium. On Oct. 1, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service laid multiple charges against five men under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Dosange said police aimed to target people at higher levels of the extortion operation and hold them accountable.
Sanket Singla, 23, a man from India, arrived in Canada on Oct. 1 and was taken into custody. He faces one count of extortion, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, two counts of causing damage to property by fire or explosion, and one count of throwing an explosive substance with intent to destroy or damage property.
Sahil, 24, of Surrey, faces one count of extortion, one count of causing damage to property by fire or explosion, one count of unauthorized transfer of a prohibited firearm, two further counts of unauthorized transfer of a prohibited firearm, three counts of unauthorized transfer of a prohibited device, ammunition or magazine, and two counts of trafficking cocaine.
Simranjeet Singh, 24, of Surrey, faces one count of extortion, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, two counts of causing damage to property by fire or explosion, and one count of throwing an explosive substance with intent to destroy or damage property. Harsh, 21, also of Surrey, faces one count of extortion, two counts of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, and one count of causing damage to property by fire or explosion.
Jagdeep Singh, 24, of Ottawa, faces one count of extortion, one count of recklessly discharging a firearm into or at a place, and one count of causing damage to property by fire or explosion. The charges have not been proven in court.
Langley RCMP worked with law enforcement departments and partner agencies across British Columbia, Alberta and internationally. Investigators also obtained evidence about the possible involvement of other suspects in extortions and acts of violence in communities across British Columbia and Alberta. They continue to support those investigations with partner agencies. Police in the jurisdictions concerned may pursue charges as the investigations progress.
Dosange thanked the victims for coming forward, supporting the investigation and trusting police to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring it before the courts. He said officers repeatedly heard that people who came to Canada to build a life were being victimized by people trying to take away what they had worked for. Dosange said the community’s collective refusal to tolerate that behaviour was why police were there.
Langley RCMP Const. Peter Mann advised current and former extortion victims to stop communicating with suspects, call police and not send money. He urged them to provide police with any communications they already have to help the investigation. Mann said police put substantial resources into the case and are working with provincial, federal and international agencies to make arrests.
