Marked police vehicles, motorcycles, bike patrols, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), a marine vessel and RCMP Air Services are part of the specialized fleet Richmond RCMP uses in its day-to-day work to keep the city safe. The detachment made a video to show the public the resources it has and how different vehicles respond to different environments and situations.

Golf carts are used at large events, while police cars and motorcycles equipped with lights and sirens can respond quickly to calls. ATVs are used in difficult terrain, and bike patrols can reach areas vehicles cannot access. Twin-engine boats and helicopters are also used for search and rescue and tactical operations.

Richmond is an island municipality, so its shorelines and critical infrastructure can pose policing challenges. Richmond RCMP uses appropriate vehicles to respond to emergencies, patrol public spaces, conduct searches, support events and maintain a regular presence.

“These resources help our officers effectively serve and protect the community, whether on our roads, waterways, trails or from the air,” Richmond RCMP Staff Sgt. Paula Maan said in a press release.
