The Supreme Court of Nova Scotia has approved an $18.075-million settlement involving Air Canada, Nav Canada and the Halifax International Airport Authority over the 2015 crash landing of Air Canada Flight 624.

Eligible class members may receive compensation. Air Canada is to contribute more than $15 million of the settlement, but the approved agreement does not amount to an admission of fault or liability by any of the defendants.

On March 29, 2015, the Airbus A320 was approaching Halifax Stanfield International Airport from Toronto during a severe snowstorm with 133 passengers and five crew members aboard. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada found the aircraft descended too low before the runway, struck power transmission lines, then bounced and slid on the runway. Twenty-five people were injured and taken to hospital.

The safety board did not determine who was at fault. Air Canada spokesperson Sean Davidson said the airline was satisfied the matter had been resolved through an agreement.
