Kids to face firefighters in Surrey Nerf fundraiser Aug. 29
A Surrey fundraiser will pair children with local firefighters for Nerf battles, with organizers aiming to raise at least $5,000 for the Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society.

Children will take on local firefighters in Nerf foam-dart battles at a Surrey fundraiser for the Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society on Aug. 29.
The Kids VS Firefighters event will be held in hour-long ticketed sessions at Clayton Hills Golf Course and The Backyard Golf on Highway 10. It is being organized by Krysten Guilbault and her husband, who run the mobile business Phantom Dart Crew Events.
Guilbault said the organizers wanted to create a different kind of end-of-summer event that gives back to the community. Their fundraising target is at least $5,000, and she said time slots are beginning to fill.
Tickets cost $25 plus fees for participants and $5 for spectators. Organizers expect to offer a bouncy castle, face painting, food and other activities, and are working on approval for a raffle and a 50/50 draw.
Blasters and foam darts will be supplied. The event recommends participants be at least eight years old under Hasbro's Nerf Blaster safety guidance, although it says some younger children with experience using Nerf toys may be ready at a parent's discretion.
