Vancouver police officer Kalwinder Dosanjh charged over alleged thefts exceeding $3 million
A 26-year Vancouver Police veteran faces theft, fraud and breach-of-trust charges after a covert investigation; police say 19 victims are known so far.

Vancouver Police Chief Const. Steve Rai says Kalwinder Dosanjh, a 26-year veteran of the force, has been arrested and charged with theft, fraud and breach of trust. Victims have reported losses exceeding $3 million.
Rai said Dosanjh was arrested Thursday following a covert investigation lasting more than two years. Provincial Crown prosecutors approved four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000 and one count of breach of trust. Police know of 19 victims so far, but say there may be more.
The alleged conduct occurred between 2017 and 2025. Supt. Mike Ritchie said the investigation concerns housing developments. Rai said a dedicated investigative team was formed after the department received information from multiple victims in December 2023.
Dosanjh founded Kids Play, a Surrey, B.C., charitable foundation whose website says he has worked as an undercover officer and in financial crime and drug units. Rai described the situation as deeply concerning for Vancouver Police.
