White Rock honours longtime school trustee Laurae McNally

The City of White Rock has recognized longtime school trustee Laurae McNally for 41 years of service to students, teachers and schools in the community. At the Sept. 21 White Rock council meeting, Mayor Megan Knight opened proceedings by recognizing McNally, who will not seek re-election as White Rock’s school trustee this year.

McNally was first elected to the Surrey Board of Education in 1980 and has served as a trustee for four decades. Knight said McNally championed music programs, learning centres and sports opportunities for students, and was a regular presence at local school events, concerts, performances and plays.

Knight thanked McNally on behalf of the city and presented her with flowers, a gift and a certificate of appreciation. Three candidates—Dee Reiter, Phillip Warner and Laura Lattanzio—are seeking the White Rock trustee seat in the upcoming election. Candidate information is available at whiterockcity.ca/1014/Candidates.
