B.C. landmarks to shine blue for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Landmarks across British Columbia, including sites in Vancouver, Victoria and the Fraser Valley, will be illuminated in September for the Light Up in Blue campaign.

Landmarks across British Columbia will be illuminated blue in September as part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the Canadian Prostate Cancer Foundation’s national Light Up in Blue campaign.
The foundation says one in eight Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and that early detection is critical. It said more than 150 landmarks and over 300 homes participated across Canada last year.
In Vancouver, the Bloedel Conservatory, Burrard Bridge and Vancouver City Hall are scheduled to light up Sept. 1. Canada Place Sails is set for Sept. 6, while BC Place, the Vancouver Airport Tower and Vancouver Convention Centre are listed for Sept. 7.
Other participating B.C. locations include Burnaby City Hall and Guideway, Coquitlam’s Lafarge Lake LED columns, Delta City Hall, New Westminster City Hall, North Vancouver City Hall, Surrey Civic Plaza and White Rock Pier. Dates vary by location.
Several sites are planned for longer displays or signage throughout the month, including Chilliwack District 1881, North Vancouver City Hall, Peachland, Sicamous, the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay, Victoria’s Strathcona Hotel and Tumbler Ridge. The campaign says blue represents hope, compassion and solidarity for patients, partners and loved ones affected by prostate cancer.
