Eby to address trade-talk collapse at Vancouver news conference
B.C. Premier David Eby is scheduled to speak in Vancouver after Canada withdrew from U.S. trade talks and announced matching tariffs effective Sept. 8.

B.C. Premier David Eby is scheduled to address the collapse of Canada-U.S. trade talks at a noon news conference in Vancouver on Saturday.
His remarks follow news conferences by Prime Minister Mark Carney and other premiers. Carney said Canada would impose promised dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs against the United States on Sept. 8 after pulling out of talks late Friday.
Carney said last-minute U.S. changes were unfair, uneconomic and called into question whether any agreement could be reliable. Eby said Friday that British Columbians would stand with Canada and that the province would defend itself for as long as necessary.
