Jamie Mills wins Nico Wynd Saturday league club championship
Jamie Mills captured the gross title at Nico Wynd’s Senior Men’s League Saturday championship and became the first player since 1988 to win both league championships.

Jamie Mills won the gross-score title at the Nico Wynd Golf Course Senior Men’s League Saturday Club Championship, finishing the Aug. 15-16 event with a two-day total of 146.
Fifty Saturday League members competed for gross and net championships. Mills, a 10-time club champion, opened with a 73 to share the first-round lead with Ben Silvers. Graham Roberts and Blair Smith finished tied for second at 149, three shots back.
Jack Bowman won the net-score title with a two-day net total of 132, three strokes ahead of Steve Bach. The competition was played in dry conditions that produced fast fairways and quick greens.
Mills also won the club’s Tuesday league championship, making him the first player since 1988 to capture both the Saturday and Tuesday league titles in the same season. The club said Herb Fritz previously achieved the double in five seasons.
Summer play continues through the end of October. The club’s annual general meeting is scheduled for Oct. 4, followed by its wind-up banquet on Oct. 9. Prospective members can apply beginning Dec. 1; information is available at nwmgc.ca.
