Lime offers free rides for B.C. municipal and provincial election voters
Lime is offering voters in eight B.C. cities two free rides of up to 15 minutes each from Oct. 16 to 24, 2026, to help them travel to and from voting locations. The offer covers both election days and most of the provincial advance-voting period.
Voters in eight British Columbia cities where Lime operates will be able to use free rides for part of their trip to and from voting locations. The e-bike and e-scooter sharing company is offering two rides of up to 15 minutes each between Oct. 16 and 24, 2026. The promotion is available in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Victoria and Kelowna with the code VOTECAN26.
The offer spans both general election days: B.C. municipal elections are on Saturday, Oct. 17, followed by the provincial election on Saturday, Oct. 24. It also covers most of the provincial election’s six-day advance-voting period, which runs from Friday, Oct. 15, to Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Lime is partnering for a second consecutive year with Apathy is Boring, a non-partisan, youth-led charity that encourages young Canadians to take part in democracy. The partnership aims to help more people vote by reducing transportation barriers.
In Vancouver’s civic election, voters will choose a mayor, city councillors, Vancouver Park Board commissioners and Vancouver School Board trustees, and vote on two separate plebiscites. One concerns borrowing for a capital plan to fund new and upgraded facilities and infrastructure. A separate, non-binding public-safety plebiscite will seek voters’ views on public hard-drug use and a proposed secure medical treatment facility for people with mental-health and addiction issues.
In the provincial election, voters will choose the MLA for their riding. The result will help determine which provincial political party forms government.
