Homicide investigators are seeking dash-cam video captured along a rural road in Surrey, B.C., where a man’s body was found this week. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said the body was discovered beside the road in the 6100 block of 156 Street on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities are still working to confirm the man’s identity.

Sgt. Freda Fong said time is running out to obtain “perishable evidence,” including dash-cam recordings that could help the investigation. She said investigators need to establish a timeline of events leading up to the discovery, in addition to identifying the man, and urged anyone who was in the area to contact IHIT right away.

Investigators want to speak with anyone who drove or walked in the area between Oct. 8 and 14 and may have relevant information. Fong said investigators have not established how long the body may have been at the scene before it was found. She noted that the area is “near farmland” and does not usually see much foot traffic.

IHIT has not said how the man may have died. The team said only that circumstances at the scene led investigators to suspect criminality. Anyone with information can call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
