SPS notifies IIO after police vehicle collision injures pedestrian
A pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a Surrey Police Service vehicle collided with another vehicle early Sept. 7.

Surrey Police Service says it notified the Independent Investigations Office after one of its police vehicles collided with another vehicle near 96 Avenue and King George Boulevard at about 2:56 a.m. on Sept. 7, 2026. A pedestrian was subsequently struck.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. SPS officers, Surrey Fire Services firefighters and BCEHS paramedics attended the scene.
The IIO has asserted jurisdiction over the incident, and SPS says it cannot provide further information while the independent process is underway. King George Boulevard will be closed in both directions between approximately 98A Avenue and 100 Avenue for several hours while investigators examine the scene. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
