Surrey Auto Loop to bring Mercedes-Benz and other dealers to $250M auto mall
The 16-acre Newton development will include at least seven dealerships, 1,000 parking stalls and nearly 166,000 square feet of commercial space, with construction expected in early 2027.

Surrey Honda and Mercedes-Benz Surrey are among the confirmed dealerships planned for Surrey Auto Loop, a new auto mall at 13340 76 Ave. in Newton. OpenRoad Auto and Conwest Developments held a groundbreaking Aug. 28 at the 16-acre site, where at least seven dealerships are planned.
The development is to include 1,000 vehicle parking stalls and nearly 166,000 square feet of commercial space for showrooms, offices, food outlet or outlets and service facilities. Construction is expected to begin early in 2027, with additional brands and details to be announced later. OpenRoad Auto CEO Christian Chia said the site is expected to become a modern campus by 2028 where people can shop for vehicles, have them serviced and experience automotive brands.
Chia said investment will approach $250 million and could support up to 500 permanent jobs. Conwest led the land-rezoning work, approved by Surrey city council in January. The property is on the south side of 76 Avenue, east of 132 Street, beside a diagonal rail line.
Mayor Brenda Locke called the project a major investment in Newton that will create local jobs and bring economic activity. Conwest CEO and partner Ben Taddei said the development-ready site represents significant private investment and advances Surrey’s evolution as an employment and economic centre.
Founded in 2000, OpenRoad Auto advertises itself as B.C.’s largest automotive dealership group. It employs more than 2,500 associates, represents 23 brands at 44 locations in B.C. and Ontario, and includes 37 dealerships and seven collision centres.
